The Gramercy Park Hotel: Haute Bohemian Chic Thrives

Something I truly honor about the arts and design, is their ability to move us, like listening to your favorite piece of music or looking at an evocative painting. With this in mind, a pilgrimage to the Gramercy Park Hotel, reimagined and unveiled by design partners Ian Schrager and Julian Schnabel in the winter of 2006, is definitely a transformative trip for design followers.

Designs hot, economy cold: Art Basel Miami Beach

Art Basel Miami Beach, the superbowl of art, which kicked off December 4th drew a crowd of about 300, half the size of last year’s crowd. Though the art show’s line up was still strong consisting of 250 galleries from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Africa and over 2,000 artists, both new comers and veterans, there was an air of anxiety. With the recent crash in the economy, the question on everyone’s minds was “will the art sell?“.  (more…)

A Fashion Moment for Thanksgiving

With Thanksgiving only a few days away, why not skip the conventional and go for something different when decorating for the holiday.  Instead of the traditional fall hues, use a favorite moment in fashion to inspire the table setting.

Bringing Fashion Week Home

I just returned from eight days at New York Fashion Week. My adrenaline is still pumping from all of the fabulous parties and fashion shows where designers unveiled their Spring ‘09 collections. After leaving the tents at Bryant Park, I was inspired to say the least, and wanted to share some of my experiences to help you bring some of that fierce fashion into your home.
