“The Way Things Work” Game, David Macaulay
Everyone on my gift list is a creative-type. Seriously. From my 5-year-old niece, who is hardcore into crafting with glitter (thparkleth, she calls them) on up, I’m surrounded by people who are passionate about art, design, architecture, music, books and film. I “heart” presents, so tracking down the perfect gift for each person is just the kind of conquest that turns me on. Adding to the challenge, this year we agreed to keep the spending to a minimum in light of all the economic turbulence. So I’ve been hunting for well-designed items that make a statement, have a lot of character, serve a purpose, and inspire the creative process. I found a bunch (and accidentally found a few things for my own wish list!) I’m happy to say that all of these gifts are under $300, and all but two are under $100, well under.
Happy Holidays & Cheers to an amazing 2009!
